An epic team challenge in support of two fantastic local charities - Rowcroft Hospice and The RNLI.
Team Absolute had the most fantastic weekend as we ran, walked, paddleboarded, cycled and skateboarded between our offices in support of Rowcroft Hospice and RNLI Torbay.
Let's find out how each of our teams faired!
Our Runners 🏃🏻♂️ 🏃🏼♀️ 🏃🏽 🏃🏻♀️
Our team of runners really challenged themselves by taking on a gruelling (& very warm) half marathon between Brixham and Torquay. Our four person team of Danni, Chelsey, Simon and Frank set off from outside our Brixham office and headed for the coast path, stopping off at Paignton and finishing at our Wellswood office. The route saw the team run up many steps and hills, gaining over 400m in elevation 😮💨
Our Teignbridge Walkers & Skateboarder! 🚶🏼♀️🚶🏻♀️🛹
Our terrific trio of Rhia, Peter and Mia started their challenge from our Dawlish office and hit the incredibly hilly section of the coast path all the way to Ilsham Green. They stopped off at our office in Shaldon and even managed to hop on the passenger ferry at Teignmouth! They covered their difficult route in just over 5 hours and covered over 57km between them 💪🏼
Pete, armed with his trusty skateboard, definitely turned a few heads and got some people laughing as he cruised through the streets (whilst also providing some much needed entertainment for Mia and Rhia!) 😁
Our cyclists 🚴 🚴🏼♂️
James and his Dad Stephen covered almost 50km each as they cycled from Dawlish to Brixham... and back again! They hit the roads and cycle paths and battled through the blazing sun, all with a smile on their faces. They have both reported that they aren't too saddle sore any more and would do it all again! 😊
Our Torbay Walkers 🚶🏻♀️🚶🏼♀️🚶🏻♀️
We had a big group of ladies who undertook the walk along the coast path between Brixham and Wellswood - Cheryl, Rach, Louise and Ellen set off from outside our Brixham office and met up with Nicola at Broadsands and then Ella, Nicky, Emily, Olivia and little Henry at Paignton Beach. Between them, they smashed over 124km and even managed to stop off for an ice cream on the way! We are very proud of their efforts and hope the blisters are healing well! 💪🏼
Our Paddleboarders and kayaker 🏄🏻♀️ 🏄🏼♂️ 🛶
Our paddleboarding team of Chris Mitchell, Holly Fisher and Andrew Litherland completed their epic Dawlish to Brixham SUP challenge in just over 9 hours, covering a huge 29.2km each!
Having set off from Dawlish at sunrise (an early 5:00am start!), they battled strong headwinds the entire journey and stopped off in EVERY town we have an office in. The sea conditions at times were incredibly tough, with currents and a strong incoming swell almost the entire way 😰
This didn't stop them though and they ploughed through the whole distance, fuelled by lots of snacks and a cup of tea aboard Tina's boat! 🚤
Having been joined by kayaker Jodie at Paignton for the last leg, which proved to be the most challenging section of all, the team made it to Brixham in high spirits just after 2:30pm and were welcomed by friends and family... and a seal! 🦭
It wasn't just people who took on the Absolute Challenge... there was a strong team of dogs too! 🐶
Well done to Bella, Merlin, Molly and Lottie for covering a whopping 46km between them - a long way for such little legs! 🦮
Celebrations were in order for the whole team - a couple of drinks and some food perked us all up ready for a big game of (slightly competitive 😉) rounders to top the day off!
We want to say a massive THANK YOU to every single person who has donated towards our challenge - your support kept us going even when things got tough. We've also received so many positive messages and seeing some of your friendly faces along our routes was hugely appreciated.
